Highest Paying Security Certifications:

As demand for IT security talent grows, you’ll need to make sure you stand out from the crowd. Here are top security certifications that will get you a higher salary, according to a Global Knowledge survey:

Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC): $119,227

CRISC is the only certification that prepares and enables IT professionals for the unique challenges of IT and enterprise risk management. This certification helps a candidate build greater understanding of the impact of IT risk and how it relates to their organization. The CRISC certification is designed for IT professionals who are tasked with identifying and managing risks through Information Systems (IS) controls.

Certified Information Security Manager (CISM): $118,348

The CISM certification focuses on security strategy and assessing the systems and policies in place. It promotes international security practices and recognizes the individual who manages designs, and oversees and assesses an enterprise’s information security. This certification requires at least five years of experience in IS auditing, control, or security.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP): $110,603

CISSP is designed to provide vendor-neutral security expertise. The certification consists of an exam based around ten different areas in computer security including risk analysis, cloud computing, security when developing applications, mobile, cryptography, physical security, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and legal and compliance issues.

Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA): $106,181

The CISA certification is for IT professionals whose job responsibilities include auditing, monitoring, controlling, and/or assessing IT and/or business systems. The candidate will be able to manage vulnerabilities, ensure compliance with standards, and propose controls, processes, and updates to a company’s policies to ensure compliance with accepted IT and business standards.

Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH): $95,155

A candidate with this certification will be able to discover holes, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities in a company’s network defenses using techniques and methods that hackers employ. Given the recent increase in cyberattacks, the great volume of personal data at risk, and the legal liabilities possible, the need for CEHs is high, hence the salaries offered.
