Geek Pride continues to run rampant! Modis’ Geek Pride 2013 Survey found that 87% of Americans don’t sneak their geek – so bring on the comic books, superhero pajamas and action figures. Once upon a time, geek wasn’t a term that many wanted to be associated with, but year over year geek gets more chic with 58% of Americans defining geeks as “extremely intelligent” and 68% saying they’d date a geek. Each day, we are surrounded by the success of some very famous (and rich) geeks and are inspired by their innovation and contributions to society, which is probably why public perception is shifting.
We geeks knew it would catch on! Some of the most iconic and impactful things that started our trek to geekiness (think back to some of your favorite videogames) started with a single pixel. Pixels are, of course, still the building blocks of the visual cyber-universe, just like we geeks are the building blocks o f the tech world. Geek Pride Day is where we can embrace our inner geek, be it our fervor for sci-fi or countdown to wearable tech – we’ve all got our own geek in our own unique ways.
Let’s remember our little friend, the pixel, this Geek Pride Day. Thanks to the geek gods, we’ve come this far, so "HOLD YOUR PIXELS HIGH" by sharing our banner and celebrating on May 25th.
