In my previous blog post How I learned to do what I do and keep it going, I touched upon the importance of continuous learning and how it is just one of the keys to a successful career. As a big basketball fan, I find lots of inspiration through leadership books written by sports figures and I wanted to share two important books that have inspired me to keep to going day in and day out.
The first book is titled “The Gold Standard” and is written by Coach Mike Krzyzewski. In the book, Coach Krzyzewski talks about the importance of standards to be part of a winning team. He also stresses the importance of belief in oneself and the value of showing your team that you believe in them. That is critical for success at all levels. Trust, belief and buy-in to the process of being successful and working hard are paramount for success in your business.
“Take the Stairs” by Rory Vaden is the second book I’d like to share. Vaden does a fantastic job of using real life examples and anecdotes to show how success is attained. This book had me dog-earing multiple pages of common sense thoughts that you don’t always think about as you go through your career day in and day out. Much of this book centers on the self-discipline that is needed in order to achieve greatness. Passion tied to a purpose and with consistency can help you achieve any goal you set for yourself in your career.
The trick is for you as an individual to find your inspiration and cater your reading list towards what makes you tick! Do you have any recommendations for motivational books? Let us know in the comment section below.
